Person-centered integrated care is an action plan for the 'Decade of Healthy Aging 2021-2030' to ensure older people enjoy healthier lives. Purpose. To participate in the Decade movement, evidence of the progress in health coverage among Indonesians elderly from 2015 to 2022 should be presented. Methods. This study uses the 2015, 2020, and 2022 National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) datasets with a sample of 94,326, 121,961, and 122,344 elderly aged 60 and over, respectively. Univariate analysis is used to determine the percentage of elderly utilizing outpatient treatment between 2015 and 2022. Results. The proportion of elderly without health insurance fell from approximately 45.4 percent in 2015 to 26.4 percent in 2015, and 26 percent in 2022. However, the proportion of older people with health insurance and a health problem but not seeking outpatient treatment rose from around 35.8 percent in 2015 to 45.2 percent in 2020, and 48.2 percent in 2022. Self-medication has been the highest prevalent reason for not utilizing outpatient treatment over time. Self-medication increased from about 57.5 percent in 2015 to 62.1 percent in 2020 and 73.9 percent in 2022. Only about 2.8 percent of the elderly did not utilize outpatient treatment in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion. As self-medication was the most common reason, community awareness and collaboration with health care providers should be encouraged to carry out person-centered integrated treatment.
Mardiana Dwi Puspitasari, Mugia Bayu Rahardja, Indra Murty Surbakti Copyright (c) 2023 Muhammadiyah International Public Health and Medicine Proceeding https://e-journal.fkmumj.ac.id/index.php/miphmp/article/view/364 Thu, 30 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0700 POTENTIAL RISK FACTORS TO PREVENT THE RISE IN ELECTRIC CIGARETTE CONSUMPTION AMONG INDONESIAN ADOLESCENTS AGED 13 TO 15 YEARS OLD https://e-journal.fkmumj.ac.id/index.php/miphmp/article/view/389
Data showing a significant increase trend in sales of electronic cigarettes in Indonesia and users aged ≥ 15 years have increased tenfold to 6.6 million in 2021, and there has been no e-cigarette regulation. The purpose of the study is to provide evidence to support policies intended for increasing the number of electric smokers. Using data from the 2019 Global Youth Tobacco Survey with national representation. Simple and multiple logistic regression analyses (p < 0.05) were performed. The analysis states: 15% of youth 13-15 years old use e-cigarettes and most users are boys 13 years old, with a weekly disposable income below IDR 50,000. Multivariate analysis shows; friends or shop workers who provide e-cigarettes or attend events promoting tobacco products have a 15-fold greater influence on adolescents than the reference group. When compared to not seeing the advertisements, e-cigarette advertisements on the streets/stores/TV/ internet have the potential to increase adolescent motivation by 8 times. Nonsmokers who have tried tobacco products are potentially three times more likely to be interested in e-cigarettes than those who have never tried them. Adolescent smokers are twice as likely as nonsmokers to use e-cigarettes, and close friends who smoke are twice as likely as nonsmokers to influence e-cigarette use. Information shows that the previous Tobacco Advertising Promotion and Sponsorship Policy was ineffective, it needed to be strengthened with a total ban. It is critical to strengthen smoking cessation efforts, as well as raise parental and community awareness of the dangers of consuming tobacco products.
Asep Kusnali, Vebby Amelia Edwin, Endang Indriasih, Tati Suryati Copyright (c) 2023 Muhammadiyah International Public Health and Medicine Proceeding https://e-journal.fkmumj.ac.id/index.php/miphmp/article/view/389 Thu, 30 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0700 A STUDY OF MATERNAL HEALTH SERVICES BY PRIVATE MIDWIVES IN SURABAYA CITY, INDONESIA https://e-journal.fkmumj.ac.id/index.php/miphmp/article/view/392
Maternal mortality in Indonesia increased but the coverage of antenatal care and birth attendants by health workers is high. In 2021, it decreased to 5.1% which was lower than Bali province (10.9% in 2021) and much less than the Republic of Indonesia (24.4%). The PentaCOME (Pentahelix Community-Based Medical Education) project, the modification of COME, was the collaboration of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Higher Education, the Warmadewa University, as well as PT. Sido Muncul is implemented to further lower stunting prevalence via the “Stunting Primordial Prevention Through Prospective Brides Advisory Service” initiative in Payangan District. The present study was intended to figure out barriers to implementing such initiatives. This is a qualitative study using in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) in obtaining data. Purposive sampling was used to select informants who represented academicians (3), businessmen (2), community (9), government (3), and media (3) (i.e., Penta helix components). Twenty in-depth interviews and two FGDs involving academician, community, government, and media were conducted during the 1 September 2022 – 15 October 2022 period. Two coders transcribed and coded independently. The social-ecological model was used to categorize the codes. Informants described that they never heard about the ELSIMIL application (ELSIMIL stands for Electronic Siap Nikah dan Hamil which means ‘prepared to get married and pregnant application’) at the personal level. The “No pregnancy, no marriage” motto (i.e., social pressure to get pregnant before marriage among Balinese) was found a barrier at the interpersonal level. At the institutional level, key informants stated the prospective bride’s advisory service and ELSIMIL application campaign were not adequate. At the community level, the family support team community has been established, however, they could not fulfill their function properly due to the “no pregnancy, no marriage” motto. At the policy level, the traditional village assembly (i.e., “Majelis Desa Adat”) has not issued regulations regarding the prospective bride’s advisory service. A lack of cross-sector collaboration was also reported as a barrier to this initiative. A well-planned promotion could socialize ELSIMIL application among prospective brides. Advocacy to the traditional village assembly might diminish the “no pregnancy, no marriage” motto. Pentahelix collaboration needs to be established to achieve the “zero stunting for golden generation” goal.
Made Indra Wijaya, Komang Triyani Kartinawati, Luh Gede Pradnyawati, I Gusti Ngurah Made Bayuningrat, Tanjung Subrata, I Made Pariartha, A.A. Indonesian data for 2018 based on birth attendants by health workers was 93.1% and non-Nakes 6.7%, there were still 16% who gave birth at home, while in 2022 there were still 3 .65% assisted deliveries by non-health workers. The purpose of the study was to analyze the factors that influence the selection of birth attendants in the Talang Mamak community of Indragiri Hulu regency. This type of research is quantitative with cross sectional design. The population in this study amounted to 45 respondents with the criteria for respondents, namely pregnant women and mothers who have infants. Data analysis using Chi Square and Logistic Regression. The results showed that of the 45 respondents, 60% of deliveries were assisted by health workers and 40% were assisted by traditional birth attendants. There was a relationship between knowledge (p-value = 0.000), attitude (p-value = 0.014), beliefs/practices (p-value = 0.005), cost of labor (p-value = 0.028), distance (p-value = 0.028), family support (p-value = 0.011). The factor that plays the most role in the selection of birth attendants is knowledge with a significant value of 0.025, maternal attitude 0.031 and trust / custom 0.043 and family support 0.054. It is recommended to increase the knowledge of the mother by continuing health promotion with cultural and social approaches, as well as instilling a positive attitude towards health workers as birth attendants, so that childbirth is free of complications.
Dona Martilova, Nurmaini, Fikarwin Zuska, Sri Rahayu Sanusi Copyright (c) 2023 Muhammadiyah International Public Health and Medicine Proceeding https://e-journal.fkmumj.ac.id/index.php/miphmp/article/view/428 Thu, 30 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0700 ISLAMIC RELIGIOSITY GUIDANCE APPROACHES ON MENTAL HEALTH DISORDER https://e-journal.fkmumj.ac.id/index.php/miphmp/article/view/365
The productive age population in Indonesia in 2022 will reach 69%, with great potential for increasing economic growth. Stunting is a condition in which a child's physical growth and development are chronically stunted due to malnutrition and inadequate care. This study aims to determine food consumption behavior and home sanitation as predictors in the initial application of stunting detection. This study used a cross-sectional study on 245 children aged 0-59 months who lived in Bogor Regency who were selected using a proportional random sampling technique. Stunting is measured using an anthropometric index (length/height for age). Measuring food consumption using quantitative food intake (food frequency questionnaire) and home sanitation includes indicators of a healthy home, namely cleanliness of floors, walls, ceilings, roof height, function of living rooms, and kitchen space. Sociodemographic characteristics were measured using a structured questionnaire. The prevalence of stunting children under five is 20.4% and the dominant factor for stunting is age (p-value <0.001; AOR=0.254; 95% CI=0.120-0.541). Food consumption and home sanitation are not related to stunting (p-value >0.05). Through a comprehensive approach to food consumption behavior and home sanitation, it is hoped that early prevention and effective interventions for stunting in toddlers can be carried out.
